LAGOS

Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos have formally received and declared support for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, with a promise to stand solidly by him and work for his enthronement in 2023.

President of Akwa Ibom Community (AKISCOM), Lagos, Prince Felix Udoh, made the declaration in his goodwill message during the formal presentation come candidate to Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos by the director-general of Umo Eno/ Akon Eyakenyi Campaign Organization, Chief Assam Assam, at an event jointly organized by the Lagos chapter of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) and Akwa Ibom Community (AKISCOM), Lagos, through the Office of the Akwa Ibom Governor’s Representative in Lagos, held at NAF Events Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, last Sunday.

He said AKISCOM which is the umbrella body of all Akwa Ibom indigenes in diaspora, Lagos, had resolved to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Pastor Umo Eno, as a candidate with integrity, someone who will be conscious of what duty entails, knows what honour means, being an active business man and as well a man who fears the Lord.

The community leader added that it was the community’s promise to the state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, who is also the grand patron of AKISCOM, Lagos, to support his completion agenda and succession plan by queuing behind his choice for the Hilltop Mansion job in 2023.

In his address, the Akwa Ibom governor’s representative in Lagos, Elder Samuel Bassey, who affirmed the decision of Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos, said he was also impressed on the AKISCOM secretariat report he received recently on the 5000 Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos who travelled home to register during the voter’s registration exercise and those who transferred their voter’s card to their polling units at home, all in readiness to vote for PDP in the state in 2023 general elections.

While assuring the indigenes of all-round support at the appropriate time, Bassey urged them to remain focused and should not be distracted by desperate politicians who have nothing to offer, saying the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Umo Eno, is the right man for the job as a man of wisdom and light.

Presenting the governorship candidate to the Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos, the director- general of Umo Eno/ Akon Eyakenyi Campaign Organization, Chief Assam Assam, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Godwin Ntukude, said Pastor Umo Eno and his running mate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, have been thoroughly examined and cleared fitted with trust and confidence as the right people to sustain the superlative structures and good legacies of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration when voted into power.

He described Pastor Eno as a good entrepreneur, a senior shepherd with faithful followers, a man who when voted into power would truly lead the state to social justice, equality and even development, urging the people to have confidence in the candidate.

Presenting himself officially and offering an insight into his blueprint for the state when he becomes the governor, Pastor Eno said he would build on the success story of Governor Udom Emmanuel whom he described as his political father, who has raised the bar in politics and governance not only in Akwa Ibom but Nigeria in general.

The Akwa Ibom PDP gubernatorial candidate reassured the people that if elected, he would advance peace and prosperity in the state.

According to him, “Growing our state’s economy and developing our people would be my priority, and with my Arise Agenda which centres on agricultural revolution, rural development, infrastructural maintenance/ advancement, security management and education advancement, will serve as a flagship economic development agenda that will guide the development efforts during my administration when voted into power”.

Eno called on Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos to  make plans to return home with a blessed assurance that if elected, he will make life better and beautiful for generality of Akwa Ibomites through creation of jobs in different sectors of the economy.

He appreciated Akwa Ibomites in Lagos which was his base (before) for their show of love, even within the shortest notice of the event, and the declaration of support for him.

In his vote of thanks, Lagos chapter co-ordinator of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), Otuekong Ubong Jackson, expressed happiness for the PDP gubernatorial candidate and his running mate, the leadership of the party in the state for the choice of God’s general, Pastor Umo Eno, who he described as a good man.

While assuring the PDP gubernatorial candidate of massive votes from Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos and its environs, Ogun and Oyo states in particular who are part of the movement, and had transferred their voter’s card to Akwa Ibom, told him not to forget his people when God’s will is done, by being ready to make AKISCOM Lagos the 32nd local government area of Akwa Ibom State.
