YENOGOA
The Akwa Ibom State governor has called for teamwork by leaders of government at various levels to enhanced nation building in Nigeria.
Pastor Umo Eno made the call, Wednesday, while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the inauguration of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa for a second term which was held at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenogoa, Bayelsa State.
“If you observe, you see a pattern that we are working together as a team. I think that’s the only way to build this country. That we can work across party lines and then find a common solution to the problems facing our nation rather than throwing blames at people,” he said.
The governor lauded Diri’s statesmanship and all-inclusive disposition, describing his victory and subsequent inauguration as a milestone achievement.
Eno said this was obvious in the array of personalities across party lines at the event, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kwara State governor and chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
“For Governor Diri, the presence of the calibre of people you saw here today testifies eloquently to the kind of person he is. He is a man of peace. So we wish him well in his second term”, the governor said.
He lauded the governance style of leaders of government in diminishing biases based on political affiliations to work together as a team to address the nation’s challenges and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people as the only way to build Nigeria while wishing the returning Bayelsa State governor a successful second term in office.
