A new executive for Akwa Ibom State Chapter of Federal Government Girls’ College Calabar (FEGOCAL) Old girls Association, has been inaugurated.
The executive, which has Barrister Emma Udonsek as president, was constituted during a meeting of the Association in Eket over the weekend, where elections were conducted into various offices by the Association’s Electoral Committee, chaired by Justice Joy Unwana.
The only position contested for was that of the vice president and Eme Uwak scored 30 votes against her opponent’s 8, to retain her position for another two years.
Members of the executive returned unopposed included Ekpema Abasiattai – secretary, Eno Inyang – assistant secretary, Rosemary Johnson – treasurer, Ekuseme Ekong – PRO, and Barr. Eno-Obong Akpan – legal adviser.
Others are the chaplain – Pst. Ubong Smith, welfare officers – Arc Ute Abang and Imaobong Akpabio, while the immediate past president, Rebecca Asindi and Dr Valerie Obot are to serve in the new executive as Ex-officio.
The new executive swore to uphold the visions of the Association as Barr. Ime Obot administered the oath of office and oath of allegiance, respectively.
The FEGOCAL old girls had earlier converged on the Royal Ukwa Assembly of The Apostolic Church, 153 Eket-Oron Road, Eket for a thanksgiving, led by the immediate past president, Rebecca Asindi, who thanked God for the lives of the members and their families during the pandemic as well as for the grace to achieve all that the outgone executive had achieved.
A gratitude party later took place at Sereneo Hotels, Editung Avenue, Eket and featured the cutting of a thanksgiving cake by the new president, Barr. Emma Udonsek, assisted by other executive members as well as the exchange of New Year gifts.
