Gov Udom Emmanuel has expressed confidence on the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to reverse the backwardness of the country.

Emmanuel made remarks while addressing the stakeholders of the PDP during the New Year get-together of the party, which took place at Atan Offot, Uyo, Wednesday.

The governor said the deterioration of facilities and the backwardness in various sectors of the economy requireNigerians to bring back the PDP at the center of governance, insisting that it is the PDP that holds the key to the fortunes of liberation of Nigerians from economic and social challenges.

He emphasised that the focus of the PDP was in the “restoration of Nigeria” with hopes of redemption for the country, hinting that Nigerians are waiting for the PDP to emerge in 2023 and restore the lost hope of citizens on theeconomy.

Emmanuel stated that the task before the PDP to bring back Nigeria to greatness was divine and has to be fulfilled for the sake of future generations, maintaining, “God has given us in PDP the responsibility to restore Nigeria back to its full glory. We have to restore the economy of the country, we have to restore security, peace and unity in Nigeria and bring prosperity to the people. PDP is ready and will restore Nigeria”.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to showcase the prowess of the PDP in the development of Akwa Ibom in line with the Completion Agenda, stating, “my manifestos came under the umbrella of the party and as a faithful party man, I’m assuring the party that all on-going projects will be completed before I leave office. Let it be known that our party stands for excellence.”

The state chairman of the PDP, Mr Aniekan Akpan, appreciated Emmanuel for making the party proud in his leadership strides, adding that the party remains relentless in supporting his visions in building the state.

Akpan mentioned that the PDP has recorded tremendous gains by having Emmanuel at the leadership position of the party, adding, “We’ve stabilised the party, sustained the team spirit and party unity through constructive engagements, reconciliation and regular exchange of ideas on a wide range of issues.”

The event was attended by the state deputy governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo; the speaker, state House of Assembly, Mr Aniekan Bassey as well stakeholders across all levels of the party.

Others were the former state chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, the immediate past national legal adviser of the party, Mr. Emmanuel Enoidem and the chairman of all chapter chairmen in the state, Mr. Eddy Etangnkanga, who spoke separately in agreement that the PDP has fared well with Emmanuel at the leadership of the state, while also declaring support for Emmanuel’s completion and succession agenda.
