Gov Udom Emmanuel and other prominent stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have signed a bond to lead campaigns for the rescue of the country.

Emmanuel, alongside other members of the PDP, took the oath during an enlarged meeting of the people of the South South geo political zone of Nigeria, which took place at Ibom Hall, IBB Way, Uyo, recently.

The governor stated that the mission of the people of the South South in the PDP was nothing more than to rescue Nigeria from the grip of bad governance, emphasising that the decision was a determination beyond negotiation for any other thing to give leadership that meets the aspirations of the people.

He stressed that the leaders of the PDP in the South South zone have taken a consensus position of being committed to the task of rescuing Nigeria, from the center to the hinterlands, pointing out that the need to restore Nigeria from the grips of poor governance far outweighs other concerns before the PDP and well meaning people in the country.

Emmanuel expressed confidence that the strength of the PDP in the South South serves as a reliable factor in the task through the polls in 2023, hinting that the “PDP remains the foundation of the beginning of modern democracy and stillrated a strong political party in the country.”

He said that the recipe to success was the need to work together, explaining, “If we go as individuals, we may not make impact but if we move as a team, we’ll make great impact. Let’s be rest assured that in the next dispensation, Nigeria will return to the PDP and once we take back power, the economy and hope of Nigerians will rise.”

The governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, observed that the unpleasant problems created by the current leadership have emboldened the PDP in the South South to unite and standup on the rescue mission, remarking, “We know it is a great task and we’ll tackle it as a team. We believe that we’re better prepared to take this country out of where it is dumped to a place that it is supposed to be.”

Okowa, who is the presidential running mate in the coming election, said, “It’ll be a great delight that the PDP delivers Nigeria, and I truly believe that the time has come for PDP to work hard with confidence in ourselves and the party.”

The governors of Edo and Bayelsa States, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Douye Diri, respectively in separate remarks, gave assurances of maximum support to ensure victory for the PDP by 2023 across the states of the South South zone.

They noted with satisfaction that a great multitude of Nigerians have tested the sincerity of PDP, adding that the achievements of the party was not comparable across the states of the South South zone.

The chairman, Akwa Ibom chapter of the PDP, Elder Aniekan Akpan said that Akwa Ibom has never failed to deliver block votes for the PDP in previous elections, noting that there would be no deviation in 2023 based on trust of good governance.

The PDP South South zonal meeting had in attendance the former governors of Cross River, Senator Liyel Imoke; Edo, Chief Lucky Igbinedion; Celestine Omehia, Chief Tom Ikimi, Senator Gershom Bassey, Senator George Sekibo, Senator Stella Omuh, among other stakeholders with goodwill messages of hope and victory for the PDP.
