..Say it would boost Akwa Ibom’s revenue
ABUJA
As the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, continues in his quest for a better life for his people and a sustainable development of the state, commendations from far and near have been rolling in lauding the Governor’s plan to remodel the state’s moribund property in Lagos and Abuja for real estate investment purposes.
These accolades are coming on the heels of the Governor’s hint on his plan to restructure the state government’s property on Ajose Adeogun and Bishop Aboyade Cole Streets, both in Lagos, and another one in the Central Business District Area of Abuja.
Until the emergence of the Governor’s hint, the said property have over the years lay almost fallow, particularly that on Bishop Aboyade Cole Street which used to be the Akwa Ibom Liaison Office in Lagos as well as the old Akwa Ibom House in Abuja.
The Governor’s plan to restructure these buildings into commercialy-viable high-rise buildings has been commended as a well-thought-out strategic investment move that will leverage the internally-generated revenue yearnings of the state while also creating employment opportunities.
According to Mr. Robert Ekutmfon, the Chairman/CEO of CLSCMC Engineering Limited, a foreign subsidiary company with interest in real estate and oil and gas, based in Lagos, “the decision to overhaul Akwa Ibom’s moribund property investments in Lagos and Abuja is a very welcome development and must be embraced. It is a good strategy to expand the state’s social and economic frontiers and particularly boost the state’s internally-generated revenue which would translate to making more money available to the state for the people-centric activities of the government of today and in the future.”
“It’s not about capital flight to Lagos but capital flow from Lagos to Akwa Ibom State for the benefit of the Akwa Ibom people,” Ekutmfon said.
In line with the property investment drive of the Governor, he recently performed the foundation laying for state-of-the-art luxury apartments in the state, known as ‘Ewet Luxury Gardens.
Information reaching Weekend Pioneer is that 32 units of the appartments in the estate are already gone as they have been bought by diasporans.
Similarly, there are other real estate investment and development projects ongoing in the state. Among them is the ‘Dakkada Luxury Estate, along Udom Emmanuel Boulevard, and the Emily Estate, along Idongesit Nkanga Avenue.
