Well-placed indigenes of Akwa Ibom have been urged to emulate Governor Umo Eno’s leadership style by contributing positively toward the socio-economic fortunes of their fellow indigenes, particularly the underprivileged.
The commissioner for education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, who made the call, recently, during the official presentation of a bungalow to a needy at Ikot NtuenVillage, Oruk Anam Local Government Area, said it was through such efforts that the compassionate disposition of the present administration could be felt by all indigenes.
Etiebet, who donated cash, cooking utensils and other household items to the beneficiary, expressed appreciation to Gov Umo Eno for his selfless effort toward the wellbeing of Akwa Ibom people, especially the less-privileged.
She specifically commended the governor for the establishment of the Compassionate Homes Initiative which, she noted, had brought joy and great relief to many families in the state.
While inaugurating the new home, the commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, restated the determination of the Umo Eno-led administration to change the circumstances of vulnerable indigenes, being part of the campaign promises he made to the people of the state during his electioneering campaigns.
Responding to the governor’s benevolence, the beneficiary, Mrs Mercy Reuben, expressed appreciation to Gov Umo Eno for his kindness towards her and her family as demonstrated through the construction of the compassionate home and prayed God to reward him abundantly.
High point of the occasion was the commissioning of the compassionate home and presentation of a cheque of the ARISE Business Support to the beneficiary by the commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, assisted by other top government officials at the event.
