Inaugurating the state executive committee, the State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, tasked them to conquer new territories and expand the membership base of the party by offering people-centric services.
Eno congratulated the re-elected chairman of the party in the state, Elder Aniekan Akpan, and his executive, for their successful election, urging them to surpass the strides of the erstwhile executive.
The governor pledged to continually lead the State with integrity and honesty, and that his administration would remain responsive and responsible, while continuing to galvanise the youths as well as other Akwa Ibomites to ARISE.
Eno lauded the hard work and diligent service of the immediate past party executive for leading the party to victory in various elections during their tenure, and particularly thanked the immediate past governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for providing the needed leadership that led to his emergence as governor.
The governor appreciated Emmanuel for taking part in the Congress, as well as thanked representatives from the national secretariat of PDP, and the Congress Organising Committee, headed by Mr Uwem Okoko, an engineer, for the well organised congress which, he noted, marked a new dawn for the PDP in Akwa Ibom.
He solicited all necessary support from every party faithful to the new executive to enable them succeed in the tasks ahead, particularly, the October 5, 2024 local government election.
The immediate past governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, appreciated the party leadership for successfully driving the party to success and for supporting Pastor Umo Eno to victory in the 2023 elections, pledging his continued support for the new leadership to succeed on their mandate.
The newly-elected State PDP chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, in his acceptance speech, on behalf of the executive committee, promised to work together to maintain the winning history of the party and more importantly, to ensure the re-election of Pastor Umo Eno in 2027.
