Women Affairs Boss Pledges Support To AKPIIFA’s Agric Initiatives

Members of Akwa Ibom State Peculiar Ibom Integrated Farmers Cooperative Association (AKPIIFA) Limited have been assured of the State government’s support toward the realisation of their agricultural objectives.
The commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Mrs Inibehe Silas, who gave the assurance, Tuesday, while receiving AKPIIFA’s delegation who were in her office on a courtesy call, observed that the association’s objectives were in line with governor Umo Eno’s vision as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda.
Silas, who reiterated the State government’s commitment towards full implementation of the ARISE Agenda’s blueprint, particularly within the agricultural sector with a view to achieving food sufficiency across the State, expressed her intention to attend the association’s upcoming flag-off and thanksgiving service.
She emphasised her ministry’s readiness to collaborate with AKPIIFA in their mission to enhance food production and reduce food scarcity among Akwa Ibom people.
Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Elder Etoroabasi Ekpo, said AKPIIFA comprised of over 115 Primary Multi-purpose Cooperative Societies, with membership of approximately 3,000 farmers spread across the 31 local government areas of the State.
Sampson, who solicited collaboration with the ministry to enable them achieve their vision of training the first batch of 310 trainers, with 10 persons per local government area, who will in turn train others, extended an invitation to the commissioner for the flag-off their association’s farm activities and first fruits harvest thanksgiving service, slated for Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Christian Fellowship (Evangelical), Nigeria, IBB Way, Uyo.
