By Tommy Solomon….

There is no doubt that electioneering campaigns for 2023 will soon commence in the country.

In Akwa Ibom State, campaigns will take off with political parties selling their manifestoes and programmes to the people.

Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Peoples Democratic Party have been talking to the people of the state on the need for them to re-elect PDP candidates in 2023.

But there are salient issues that the governor and PDP should put in place to ensure Pastor Umo Eno’s success.

Government should aim at the completion of most on-going projects across the state in line with Governor Emmanuel’s promise to the people of the state.

Government and officials should be in peace with a cross-section of the people such as students, journalists, civil servants, traders, church leaders and members, NLC and other unions across Akwa Ibom.

Government should take steps to settle entitlements of workers and pensioners to attract their goodwill during the forthcoming elections.

Government should embark on more social investment programmes to make life meaningful to the people as well as endear them to the present administration.

For government to ganner more support before, during and after the elections, it should ensure that most aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party are reconciled because a divided house is doomed.

During electioneering campaigns, the governor and officials should use mainly the local languages to address the people to ensure clarity of their messages to them. This will also bring government and the people closer.

Efforts should be made to empower both insiders and outsiders in government to join hands to actualize the election of the party’s preferred candidates.

Well-wishers of government should be encouraged and supported to carry out various campaigns to support the present government.

The governor and his officials should always emphasise on the current peace prevailing in Akwa Ibom as against instabilities, killings and kidnappings going on in other states.

Government should take steps to actualize the planned Akwa Ibom State security out-fit to work in liaison with the police to ensure continued peace and security in the state.

As the dominant and most visible party in the state, the PDP should use refined and matured arguments to woo the people instead of resorting to abusive words to win votes. Blackmail of any kind should be avoided.

The people of Akwa Ibom State should in turn continue to support the PDP administration because the devil you know, is better than the saint you do not know.

During PDP’s leadership in Akwa Ibom since 1999, the party has opened roads, build individual capacities as well as maintained infrastructural renaissance in the state.

It therefore behooves on the people to continue to cooperate with the PDP’s administration to enable it complete on-going projects and bring more development to the land of promise to become the land of fulfillment.

And since Umo Eno has not been a veteran politician over the years but “has been selling rice and stew” according to him, it is the hope of the people that he will be in the right position to cater for their welfare and economic property.
