… Launches ARISE Runway Show
UYO
The convener of Uyo Fashion Week has disclosed that the 2024 edition of the show will complement the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno.
Lady Mae Edmonds, who spoke over the weekend as preparation for the event gathers momentum, stated that this year’s fashion show was designed to highlight the unique cultural and tourism potentials of the state in line with the state government’s drive for the sector.
She noted that a special feature of this year’s event which is the 3rd edition, will be the “Arise Runway Show”, will serve as the curtain raiser for grand fashion converge, and is designed to help discover young Akwa Ibom designers.
“The Arise fashion show is designed to drum support for the tourism component of the ARISE Agenda of the Umo Eno administration, while discovering and empowering tomorrow’s big fashion aficionados. It is dedicated to grooming these emerging designers for the global stage, providing them with invaluable exposure and opportunities. Winners of the show will not only take-home exciting prizes but will also benefit from mentoring and business networking opportunities within the fashion industry.
“We are thrilled to see such a high level of talent and creativity among the participants. The Arise Runway Show is a testament to our commitment to nurturing and showcasing the incredible potential of young designers in Akwa Ibom. We believe this platform will propel them to new heights in their careers,” she added.
From a pool of 89 entries, 10 talented finalists have emerged after a rigorous selection process that initially shortlisted 17 candidates, who will now compete in the ARISE RUNWAY SHOW, a platform inspired by the ARISE Agenda of the Umo Eno administration, aimed at discovering and empowering young fashion designers of Akwa Ibom origin, and aged 18 to 25.
The Uyo Fashion Week promises to be a spectacular event, celebrating fashion, creativity, and innovation. Attendees can look forward to a series of runway shows, Master Classes, exhibitions, and networking sessions, all designed to highlight the vibrant fashion scene in Akwa Ibom.
Other features of the Uyo Fashion Week 2024 will include the Ayaya fashion Runway show and the Asian fashion runway show.
