UNIUYO Condoles Family Over Professor’s Death

As the remains of late Professor Anthony Okonofua were to be laid to rest, the management of the University of Uyo(UNIUYO), has condoled with the bereaved family on the passage of the Institution’s don.

Leading the delegation of the university management to the condolence visit, the vice chancellor, Professor NyaudohNdaeyo, said the institution received the note of the demise of the lecturer with shock as it was never expected that such tragic incident would befall the university at large and his immediate family in particular

“When the information of the sudden demise of Professor Okonofua came to me , I was speechless as it never occured to me that such sad information would come at this time, but believing strongly in the word of God, only Him knows everything under the earth”.

Professor Nyaudoh described the dead of Anthony Okonofua, as a big lose to the Institution in view of what he had put into the system and what was left undone in the grooming up of graduates and students. He said the late professor Okonofua, despite his untimely exit, had impacted so much on the educational development of the University of Uyo and the nation.

He said Professor Okonofua would be missed greatly in the University of Uyo because of his positive contributions to the advancement of knowledge.

Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, while expressing his heart-felt condolences, urged the entire family to be consoled by the fact that the late professor had left lasting legacies and would ever be remembered for his contributions to the development of humanity and the soceity.

Professor Ndaeyo prayed for God to comfort the family and grant the departed eternal rest.

Responding, the son, Mr Gregory Okonofua, thanked the vice chancellor and his team for the condolence visit, saying it was the demonstration of the love the management have for the family. 

He appreciated Professor Ndaeyo and the acting registrar for their prompt response to him whenever he called on them at such moment of grief.

On the visit were, Professor Enoidem Usoro, Deputy vice chancellor (Administration), Professor Anthony Udoh, deputy vice chancellor (Academic), Mr.Linus Okoko acting registrar, Dr.Iwat Udofia, acting university librarian, Mr Otoabasi Ansa, Director of Works and Mrs.Blossom Okorie, director, directorate of Information and Public Relations.

Professor Okonofua was the immediate-past Director of Late Prof Stella Idiong Art Gallery at the University of Uyo permanent campus.
