
… Plans To Establish New Media Directorate In Information Ministry

Fresh from his inauguration into the State Executive Council, the commissioner in-charge of the Ministry of Information assumed office with a pledge to revolutionise information dissemination in the State with focus on deepening conversation on the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
Mr. Aniekan Umanah expressed his gratitude to the Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno for giving him the opportunity to serve, and charged staff of the Ministry to brace up for the task ahead.
The commissioner commended his predecessor in office, Comrade Ini Ememobong, for his excellent work, assuring that he will build upon the existing foundation.
Umanah emphasised the importance of teamwork, stating that every staff is important and encouraged a spirit of camaraderie among them.
The information commissioner also highlighted his plans to create a Department of New Media, to leverage technology to enhance communication and information dissemination, and pledged his commitment to driving the ARISE Agenda, a 5-pillar initiative with 17 focal points aimed at transforming the State.
Umanah, who was accompanied by his wife, Maureen, was ushered into the Ministry by a team of excited staff, led by the permanent secretary, Akparawa James Edet.
Receiving the new Information commissioner to the Ministry, the permanent secretary, Edet, described Umanah’s return to the Ministry as a “second missionary journey” and expressed confidence in his ability to excel, given his past achievements.
Edet assured of the cooperation and support of staff of the Ministry to enable him succeed.
The director of Information, Mr. Aniekan Ukpong, also assured Umanah of the Ministry’s support in driving the ARISE Agenda.
The event was marked with songs of praises to God and prayers for the success of the new information era under Umanah’s watch.
