Ultimum Limited, a rapidly expanding player in Nigeria’s food and beverage sector, has commissioned a state-of-the-art carbonated soft drinks (CSD) manufacturing plant in Aba, Abia State, marking a significant milestone in its growth trajectory and reinforcing investor confidence in the region’s industrial revival.
The facility, located in the Osisioma Industrial Layout, will produce multiple variants of the company’s Razzl brand, including Cola, Orange, Lemon, and Pamplemousse, a grapefruit-flavoured offering positioned as a distinctive addition to the Nigerian soft drinks market.
The commissioning ceremony drew key stakeholders from government and industry, with Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, describing the investment as a strong indicator of economic resurgence in the state.
According to the governor, the project reflects improving business conditions and renewed private sector confidence in Aba as a manufacturing hub. He noted that the state’s policy focus on stability, infrastructure, and ease of doing business is beginning to yield tangible results, attracting both local and foreign investments.
Chairman of Ultimum Limited, Whalen Kadji, said the decision to site the plant in Aba was strategic, citing the city’s longstanding reputation as a center of commerce and enterprise. He emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to Nigeria, noting that the investment goes beyond beverage production to include job creation, local capacity development, and supply chain integration.
Managing Director Austin Ufomba described the plant as a critical platform for scaling operations and delivering globally competitive products from Nigeria. He stated that the company aims to combine innovation, affordability, and strong distribution to deepen market penetration and compete effectively within the country’s highly competitive beverage industry.
Industry observers note that the new facility is expected to generate employment opportunities, stimulate ancillary businesses, and strengthen regional supply chains across the South-East and South-South, with expansion plans targeting nationwide distribution.
Ultimum Limited, headquartered in Lagos and part of the Kadji Group, commenced operations in Nigeria in 2022. Its flagship Razzl brand was introduced in 2023 and has since expanded to include multiple stock-keeping units across different bottle sizes and flavours.
Positioning itself as a “future beverages company,” Ultimum is focused on delivering innovative alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink offerings tailored to evolving consumer preferences across African markets.
The Aba plant commissioning underscores a broader trend of renewed industrial activity in Nigeria’s subnational economies, where policy alignment and private capital are increasingly converging to drive manufacturing growth.
