Staff of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are still basking in the frenzy that enveloped the Ministry on Monday as the commissioner in-charge of the Ministry, Sir Charles Udoh, reeled out Christmas and birthday gifts to them.
It was a double-barrel celebration for the staff, who were treated to a memorable end-of-year get- together, which coincided with the birthday celebration of December-born staff of the Ministry.
Earlier in the day, all staff of the Ministry had received bags of rice at the Ministry’s headquarters in Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex, Uyo, given by the commissioner, who said the gesture was in keeping with the spirit of the Christmas Season.
Represented by the permanent secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, the tourism commissioner commended the staff for their contributions towards the smooth running of the ongoing Christmas Unplugged Season 2.0 as well as the just concluded 17th edition of Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols festival.
He said the teamwork spirit of the staff has aided in the successes achieved by the Ministry during the 2024 fiscal yearthat was gradually winding down, and urged them to sustain the commitment, dedication and hard work, for effective service delivery on the ARISE Agenda mandate of the Ministry.
Later in the evening, all December-born staff of the Ministry were gathered at the Unity Park Museum Terrace for the monthly staff birthday celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner, Sir Charles Udoh, acknowledged God’s providence in the lives of the celebrators and prayed God’s continuous blessings, elevation and prosperity upon their lives in the years ahead.
The event, which was spiced with dancing and jubilation, witnessed the cutting of birthday cake and presentation of cash gifts to the celebrators by the commissioner.
Some staff of the Ministry that voiced out their minds maintained that such magnanimous gesture was unheard of in the Ministry for so many years past, and expressed deep appreciation to the commissioner for his staff-friendly disposition.
It was indeed another December to remember in the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
