… Celebrates MCT March-born

UYO

The commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, has urged staff of his Ministry to reman committed to its mandate of Tourism development as enshrined in the ARISE Agenda.

Dr. Anieti gave the charge Friday in Uyo, during a birthday celebration of March-born staff of the Ministry, held in the Ministry’s foyer at Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat complex, Uyo.

The Commissioner urged the staff to reciprocate the kind gesture of the State Government in paying the N80,000 minimum wage which he said stands out Akwa Ibom amongst its other confederating states of Nigeria.

He said, in addition to the minimum wage, the State government is taking staff welfare seriously, with the knowledge that, a happy and motivated worker, is a high performing and productive worker.

Udofia emphasized that, it is based on this analogy, that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is upholding the Staff birthday celebration to motivate the workers and make them happy to work towards the development of Tourism in the State, which is a cardinal part of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

The Tourism Commissioner, thanked God for adding another year to the celebrators and prayed for more years in good health and prosperity for them. He congratulated all the March-born staff of the Ministry on the milestones so far attained and wish them greater heights in the years ahead.

Responding on behalf of the celebrators, the Director of Administration, Mr. Mfon Udokang, thanked the Honourable Commissioner and indeed the entire management of the Ministry for upholding the monthly staff birthday celebration, geared towards staff motivation.

He said the initiative, has opened an atmosphere of relaxation and bonding amongst staff enabling the staff to unwind after the busy schedules and official assignments within the month.

Highpoints of the celebration which featured lots of dancing and merriments among the celebrators were: proposing of a toast for long life and prosperity for the celebrators, cutting of the birthday cake amidst birthday chants and presentation of cash gifts to the celebrators.

Among the March-born celebrators of the Ministry include: the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Grace Akpan, the Director of Administration, Mr. Mfon Udokang, Director, Hotels and Tourism Board, Mr. Aniekan Inyang and a Data Processing Officer in the Payroll Unit, Mr. Emmanuel Eni, among others.
