The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has applauded the Online TV initiative of the Council for Arts and Culture, CAC, emphasising that it will promote the ARISE Agenda.
The permanent secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, made this known, recently in Uyo, during a courtesy call on her by the management and union leaders of the Council for Arts and Culture, CAC, led by the director of the Council, Dr. Unwana Joshua.
Akpan said the ARISE Agenda is the road map for all the development plans of government, therefore, she will support any initiative geared at giving a spotlight on any aspect of the development blueprint.
She, therefore, applauded the Council for Arts and Culture, CAC, for the foresight in developing a CAC-TV geared at beaming Akwa Ibom to the world, particularly the cultural heritage of the people as showcased by the performing Art Department of the Council.
The permanent secretary expressed optimism that the CAC-TV will beam limelight on the achievements of the different planks of the ARISE Agenda, especially the tourism sector, towards showcasing the rich tourism potentials of the State to tourists and for exports.
She, therefore, endorsed the AK CAC-TV to the glory of God and benefit of humanity and urged the TV crew to ensure close scrutiny of all clips put out to global viewership to ensure that they align with online media code of practice.
While expressing gratitude to the leadership of the Council for the excellent service delivered at the just concluded Christmas Unplugged Season 2.0, she urged the Council to continue with its good work of promoting the cultural heritage of the State through dances, songs, Arts exhibition and other performances.
Earlier, the director, Akwa Ibom State Council for Arts and Culture, Dr. Unwana Joshua, said the visit was to introduce the management and union leaders of the Council to the permanent secretary and also the TV crew that had worked tirelessly towards opening a Facebook page for the Council to post all its productions on performances by the different troupes and other cultural activities of the State.
Joshua, who listed the achievements of the Council under his watch, expressed appreciation to the permanent secretary for her continued support to the Council and solicited her endorsement for the CAC-TV, to enable them put out their video clips on their Facebook page.
He stressed that Akwa Ibom State Council for Arts and Culture’s CAC-TV has come to stay as an online TV which will showcase the cultural heritage and tourism potentials of Akwa Ibom to the global community and intimated the permanent secretary that other government officials have been listed for support and endorsement of the initiative.
In a vote of thanks, the head of Performing Arts, Mrs. Abigail Akpakip, lauded the permanent secretary for approving the visit and promised to work as a team for the development of the Council and towards raising the bar in the promotion of the ARISE Agenda.
