By Bassey Nkponam
UYO
As messages of condolences keep pouring alongside condolence visits on the Akwa Ibom governor owing to the demise of his wife and First Lady of the State, the President of the 10th Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has joined others to condole Pastor Umo Eno on this great loss.
Akpabio, who lent his voice, Friday, during a condolence visit on the governor, the first family, and the people of Akwa Ibom, at Government House, Uyo, described the demise of the First Lady, Pastor Patience Umo Eno as a great loss to the family, the State and the nation at large.
The Senate President saw the deceased as a virtuous woman who served as a major pilar for the governor and his administration, recalling that she had stood by her husband and greatly supported the aged and vulnerable through her pet project, Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), saying, she would be greatly missed.
Accompanied by representatives of Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts, respectively, Senators Aniekan Bassey and Ekong Sampson, the member representing Etinan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Obong Paul Ekpo, as well as Senator Ita Enang, amongst others, the Senate President noted that Late Patience Eno’s humility and support to the governor enabled him to achieve his inclusive and unifying objectives, describing her as “Madam stabilizer”.
Akpabio, who described the deceased as a woman of God, lauded the governor for choosing his first daughter, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki as coordinator of  GIFA, as this will help in sustaining the good works of the Late First Lady.
He urged him to be strong especially as a Christian who knows that there is a better life hereafter, assuring the governor that he was not alone in his moment of grief.
The governor, Pastor Umo Eno, appreciated the Senate President for his visit which, he noted, meant a lot to him, his family and the State, saying that it has always been his prayers that the State will be united, with people working together irrespective of political party differences, as Akwa Ibom has become a model State for the country and beyond.
Eno pledged his continued effort to ensure that a united State is built for the good of all, appreciating everyone for their condolences and prayers, while reiterating his commitment to ensuring that the pet project of the First Lady, Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), as well as other humanitarian gestures are sustained.
He made known that his first daughter, Mrs. Helen Obareki, will coordinate the activities of GIFA to enable it actualise its full purpose in remembrance and honour of the Late First Lady.
The state chief executive officer congratulated Akpabio on his conferment with the national honour of the Grand Commander Of the Niger (GCON), while also appreciating the country’s president, President Bola Tinubu, for the honour done the former Akwa Ibom governor.
