One person has been reported dead and three others seriously injured in an auto crash which occurred in the early hours of Monday, along old Uyo-Abak Road by University of Uyo Annex, Ediene, Abak.

A statement issued by the Sector Commander in the state, Matthew Olonisaye, said the accident resulted from the loss of control involving a truck, a car and a motorcycle.

According to the statement, FRSC operatives have been deployed to control and redirect traffic while obstructions are being cleared.

The statement read in part “Today being the 4th of July 2022, at about 0720hrs, a crash occurred along Abak old road by Uniuyo Annex Ediene.

“When FRSC rescue team arrived at the crash scene having received a report of the incident, it was discovered that the fatal crash resulted from a loss of control and involved a truck, car and motorcycle with four people, out of which one was feared dead. The injured were taken to hospital while others came out unhurt.

“Meanwhile, operatives have been deployed to control and redirect traffic while obstructions are being cleared to enable freeflow of traffic for ease of doing business.”

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the sector commander further warned that the command would not spare any driver found contravening the rules and regulations guiding the usage of the roads

He said, “Road users must drive carefully on the road. Vehicle owners should always ensure the maintenance of their vehicles. The state command will not spare any driver found disobeying the rules and regulations guiding the usage of the roads.

“We commiserate with the family of the dead person. May God grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We plead with members of the public to ensure safety on our roads.”
