PORT HARCOURT
Rivers State commissioner of police, Eboka, at the weekend has ordered a massive deployment of personnel across OyigboLocal Council of the state to fish out criminal elements and perpetrators of violent crimes in the area.
The order came after the gruesome murder of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Chris Josiah, attached to AfamDivisional Police Headquarters on the evening June 28, 2022, while returning home after work.
The command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement, yesterday, said the deceased was ambushed by five yet-to-be-identified armed masked men, who opened fire at the officer along Assemblies of God Church, Oboama Community, Oyigbo, and shot him dead inside his Lexus RX 300 SUV.
“The commissioner of police has equally ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“He strictly warns that further attacks on police officers tasked with the protection of life and property will not be tolerated by the police authority,” the statement added.
