The Nigerian Correctional Service, Rivers State Command, has announced Mr Felix Lawrence as the new controller of corrections of the state.
This followed a nationwide administrative reshuffling that saw the deployment of Lawrence to the state. Spokesperson for the command, DSC Juliet Ofoni, in a statement, recently, said Lawrence assumed duty on June, 24 as the new sheriff of Rivers State Command.
The controller who hails from Delta State and married with children, took over from Assistant Controller General of Corrections, Alex Oditah, who is now the desk officer ACG Restorative Justice, national headquarters, Abuja.
The statement also disclosed that Lawrence had served successfully in various capacities, which include: state headquarters, Lagos State Command; state headquarters, Asaba, Delta State; Medium Security Custodial Centre- Shendam, Plateau State; Medium Security Custodial Centre- Kuje;Medium Security Custodial Centre- Kano; Medium Security Custodial Centre- Ikoyi; Maximum Security Custodial Centre- Enugu; Maximum Security Custodial Centre-, Port Harcourt and Controller of Corrections-, Benin City, Edo State Command.
“During the official handover ceremony, Assistant Controller General of Corrections, Alex Oditah, who is now the desk officer ACG Restorative Justice, national headquarters, Abuja, urged all staff to give the new controller the maximum cooperation to bring the necessary positive change and achieve the mandate of the service.
“He appreciated the staff for their diligence to work and stated that he does not regret any action taken to move the state command forward.
“Controller Felix Lawrence appreciated God and the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nabab, for posting him to Rivers State Command, as he urged all staff to give him maximum cooperation as truancy will not be tolerated,” the statement added.
