The Akwa Ibom governor has expressed delight over President Ahmed Tinubu’s open commendation and acknowledgement of his efforts, despite being of a different political party.
Pastor Umo Eno, who bared his mind, Friday, while interacting with Government House correspondents at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, shortly on his return from Abuja, where he joined the President at a special dinner to commemorate the 2024 Democracy Day, described the commendation of his governance by Tinubu as a call for more work from him.
Recall that Tinubu, at the Democracy dinner had, in his speech, commended Eno and some other governors for their impactful leadership and decision to work across party lines in the interest of the nation.
Tinubu had said “We include in our National Anthem, the essence of service. I see many governors both live and on TV, serving their people. They belong to other parties and many of them are here tonight. Thank you, Governor Eno of Akwa Ibom”.
Eno saw Tinubu as a President for all, saying, his kind word was a call to work even harder for the progress and prosperity of Akwa Ibom people, while praying for God’s grace to continue to serve the people in humility.
“The President is President for all. He oversees the nation and sees what each state is doing, but the point to be made here is that I believe it calls for more work. It’s time to fold our sleeves and continue to work for Akwa Ibom people.
“It is gratifying to know that people appreciate the very little we’re doing to affect lives and we pray God to give us grace to continue to serve the Akwa Ibom people in humility”.
The governor assured the people of his administration’s resolve to sustain the servant-leader governance approach of being available to the people at all times, listening to their yearnings and striving to meet them at their points of need.
