The Akwa Ibom governor has urged Akwa Ibomites not to allow politics to separate the ties of their brotherhood and common heritage.
Pastor Umo Eno, who stated this in his second anniversary broadcast presented to Akwa Ibom people on Thursday, May 29, 2025, stressed the need for the kindred spirit of the people to be renewed and deepened after elections, pledging to be governor for all Akwa Ibomites irrespective of political persuasions or affiliations.
Eno assured that he will work to reconcile the people to boost synergy, as he is currently running Akwa Ibom United which, he noted, is the new spirit, while the ARISE Agenda remains the ideological guide.
According to him, elections are over, and our kindred spirit must be renewed and deepened, and solicited continued support and prayers from the people.
He announced the resolve of his administration to diversify the State’s economy with deep emphasis on tourism and the digital economy in the remaining two years.
Eno said government will hold Tourism and Power Summits where road maps that will prepare the State beyond oil will be produced.
He recalled that he was inaugurated two years ago as governor for all Akwa Ibomites, irrespective of political affiliations during which he promised to deepen the peace enjoyed in the State and extend frontiers of development and growth in line with the governance blueprint, the ARISE Agenda.
Eno noted that two years along the line, he has returned to thank the people through whose support and prayers have led to the spectacular achievements recorded across sectors in the State, noting that his administration has deepened the peace and unity in the State, reduced political bickering to a point that politicians across party lines currently sit, eat, pray, dream and walk together for the growth of the State.
He said the ARISE Agenda, which is the ideology and governance blueprint of the State, is the compass of the State development, and anchor on its sail to economic prosperity and sustainable growth.
According to him, political parties remain the vehicles to attain power, but governance is based on the needs of the people, which government needs to fulfill.
“Exactly two years ago, today, I placed my hand on the Bible and swore an oath to be a Governor for all Akwa Ibomites irrespective of political affiliations. On that solemn day also, I had promised to deepen the peace we had been enjoying in our State and extend the frontiers of our development and growth in line with our Governance Blueprint – the ARISE Agenda.
“Two years down the line, I come to you today, to say that great has been the Lord’s faithfulness. With your support and prayers, we have recorded spectacular achievements across sectors. We have deepened the peace and unity in the State, reduced political bickering and politicians across party lines can now sit together, eat together, pray together, dream together, and walk together for the growth of our dear State.
“Political parties remain the vehicles to attain power, but governance is based on the needs of the people, and we are here to fulfill just that”, Eno assured and congratulated  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the steady and focused manner he is leading the country through economic challenges.
Eno was hopeful that soon, with the economic reforms instituted by President Tinubu, Nigeria will be on its way out of the woods, stressing the need for prayer and support to the President to finish the work he has started.
He recalled that in the past two years, his administration has worked hard to tick the key boxes in the ARISE Agenda, as the State is experiencing growth across sectors leading to several honours and awards it has received from reputable organisations in the nation and elsewhere.
The Governor pointed out that all over the 31 local government areas, numerous projects have either commenced, were commissioned or are ongoing, adding that these were made possible through the support and prayers of the people.
“As I end this broadcast, permit me to remind you of what I said in my inaugural address. Elections are over, and our kindred spirit must be renewed and deepened.
“We are all Akwa Ibomites first before politics. Politics, therefore, must not separate the ties of our brotherhood and common heritage.
“I pledge to you that I will be Governor for all Akwa Ibomites irrespective of political persuasions or affiliations. I will work to reconcile our people so we can work together. Today, to the glory of God, we are now running Akwa Ibom United and this is our new spirit, while the ARISE Agenda will remain our ideological guide. I ask for your continuous support and prayers,” Eno stated.
