The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Company has debunked rumours circulating in the public that the company has retrenched over one hundred of its employees.

Rather, PHED has stated categorically that not a single staff has been retrenched.

In a statement, the company’s spokesman, Mr John Anonyai, made it clear that no such action was contemplated, stressing that the PHED’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr Benson Uwheru, has consistently assured employees that they have nothing to worry about.

According to him, Uwheru has even described the staff as capable, qualified and among the best any organization would wish to have in its team.

Anonyai said Uwheru also recently had engagements with electricity union leaders in which they applauded him for his leadership style, initiatives and successes since he assumed office barely a month ago.
