The permanent secretary in charge of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has identified staff motivation as a crucial factor in the attainment of the ARISE Agenda of the Umo Eno-led administration, by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government in the State.
Mrs. Grace Akpan opined that it was only a happy and motivated workforce that will be inspired enough to frontally tackle and deliver on their assigned mandate as enshrined in the ARISE Agenda.
On the contrary, she said a disgruntled and unmotivated workforce will be counter-productive, therefore, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will continue to uphold all programmes that are staff motivation-oriented to ginger the workforce towards greater performance and maximum productivity.
The permanent secretary made this known, recently, in Uyo, while celebrating staff of the Ministry who were born in the month of January in a brief ceremony at the Ministry’s foya at the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex, Uyo.
Akpan said the monthly staff birthday celebration is one of the legacies of the Ministry that will be sustained because of the inherent benefits of the programme in staff motivation, which is very critical to enhanced performance and productivity.
She urged the staff to reciprocate the kind gesture of the management by being hardworking and dedicated to duties for effective service delivery on the mandate of the Ministry as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda.
The permanent secretary then congratulated all the January-born staff of the Ministry and wished them many happy years ahead in good health, long life and prosperity.
Highlight of the event included the rendition of a song by the Ministry’s choir, cutting of the birthday cake, a toast and presentation of gifts to all the celebrators.
Responding on behalf of the January-born staff of the Minsitry, the outgone head of Marketing and Logistics Directorate, Mr. Mfon Essang, expressed deep appreciation to the permanent secretary for upholding the staff birthday celebration and prayed God to continue to provide the Ministry with the resources to continue with the programme.
Essang used the occasion to thank the State Government for the opportunity given to him to work and retire meritoriously and presented a souvenir to the Ministry on behalf of all the celebrators.
Present at the occasion which featured praises and dances by staff of the Ministry were the director of Tourism, Mrs. Christy Enoch, director of Culture, Mrs. Comfort Anwana and head of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS), Mr. Imo Moffat Udoekpo.
