The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) has assured his constituents that Akwa Ibom government will not abandon Abak 10-Abia Okpo-Manta Road project.
Elder Udeme Otong, flanked by his wife, Deaconess Margaret and the member for Nsit Ibom State Constituency, Hon. Eric Akpan, stated this at his Constituency Office in Abak when he presented more than 200 bags of 25kg rice and N12 million to his constituents as Christmas gifts.
The Speaker, who was reacting to a request for the State government not to abandon a section of the road from Abia-Okpo, assured that all road projects initiated by Governor Udom Emmanuel shall be completed by the present Umo Eno-led administration.
Otong explained that the administration of Governor Eno was a continuation of the immediate past administration in the state, explaining that the construction company would surely come back to complete work on Abia-Okpo – Ikot Oku Mfang – Manta Road for commissioning, having been through with the on-going Ediene Abak- Ikot Ekan- Etinan Road construction.
He used the occasion and announce that two additional road projects for Abak State Constituency have been accommodated in the 2025 budget for construction by the state government.
The Speaker specifically mentioned Idoro-UkpomHospital Road as one of the two additional roads for inclusion in the 2025 budget, noting that the road which served as a diversion for the construction of Ikot Oku Ikono flyover bridge, has to receive the attention of the state government.
Otong noted that it was during his birthday visit to Mercy Hospital and the General Hospital, Ukpom, to offset patients’ medical bills that he discovered that the road was in a terrible shape.
Abak State Constituency, the Speaker said, has one of the long kilometers of road for construction including Ediene Abak- Ikot Ekan- Etinan Road by the present administration of Governor Umo Eno.
He assured his constituents that as soon as work on the remodeling of a Primary School is completed for inauguration, the state government would commence work on the upgrading of structures and provision of medical facilities at the AfahaObong Health Centre to meet the health need of the people in line with the ARISE Agenda of Pastor Umo Eno.
He called on his constituents to cooperate with the administration of Governor Eno for more dividends of democracy to be attracted to his State Constituency.
The Speaker promised not to disappoint his constituents and solicited their unflinching support to enable him and Governor Umo Eno to succeed in office.
Representatives of the five clans of Abak, AfahaObong, Ediene,Midim, and Otoro, amongst them; ArchOkon Edem Obot, Apostle Ekerete Inyang and Barr Joe Ukpong as well as the chapter chairman of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), Mr. Akan Atia, appreciated and declared their total support towards the success of Governor Umo Eno’s administration in the state and for the speaker to succeed in office.
