ONNA TRADITIONAL RULERS COUNCIL COMMENDS EMOIMEE HCDT, PLEDGES CONTINUAL SUPPORT

His Royal Majesty, Edidem Timothy Raymond Inyang, the Paramount Ruler of ONNA, has on Wednesday 11th December 2024, commended the EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) for their efforts in developing the host communities.

This commendation came during a Meet-and-Greet session held at the Palace of HRM, Edidem Timothy Raymond Inyang, where the Members of the Board of Trustees, led by its Chairman, Her Excellency, Senator Helen Esuene, expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration received from the host communities over the past year.

The EMOIMEE HCDT has been touring seven local governments, including Eastern Obolo, Mkpat Enin, ONNA, Ikot Abasi, Eket, and Esit Eket, to foster collaboration and support from the host communities.

Senator Esuene in her remarks, praised the Traditional Rulers Council’s support and cooperation, seeking more partnerships in the coming years. She highlighted the HCDT’s five-year plan, which aims to bring massive development to the host communities.

She emphasized that EMOIMEE HCDT is the first community-based Trust in Nigeria, allowing the community to manage their funds. Furthermore, she thanked the Federal Government for implementing this scheme to cater to the host community.

According to her, the Federal Government has reportedly rated EMOIMEE HCDT higher than the 137 existing Trusts in Nigeria. Senator Esuene assured the council that the HCDT would live up to expectations.

The Village Head of Ikwe, Eteidung Friday Inyang, and the Clan Head of Asuna Nung Oku Clan, Etebom Christopher Itiat, commended the Board of Trustees for driving development in the region on behalf of the ExxonMobil JV. They pledged their continual support to EMOIMEE HCDT. HRM Edidem Raymond Inyang, accompanied by his wife, encouraged the Committee to focus on delivering results, despite criticism or insults.

HRM, Edidem Raymond Inyang accompanied by his wife, assured the Committee of the TRC’s full support as long as they discharged their functions according to the specifications given by Mobil.

The BOT Member representing ONNA, Engr. Clinton Akpan, in his comments, thanked the Traditional Rulers Council for hosting the Meet-and-Greet session. He appreciated everyone for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend.

Among those who joined the BOT Chairman, Senator Helen Esuene to ONNA includes; Chief Ulo Ante Uye, Acting Chairman Management Committee, Dr. Joshua Ndoho, Secretary of the Management Committee, Hon. Justus Emmanuel Ntuk, BOT Member, Sir (Chief) Asuquo, Lady Evans John, Engr. Clinton Akpan (BOT), Chief Edet Okon, Engr. Emmanuel, Engr. Tom Umoh, Mr. Evans Unwana and Barr. Ntiense Mbosoh, Advisory Committee.

Others from the Traditional Rulers Council who were present at the Meet and Greet include; Eteidung John Ofoh, Mkpok Village Head, Eteidung Rev (Engr.) Imoh Isong, Village Head of Ikot Edem Udo, Eteidung Friday Inyang, Village Head of Ikwe, Clan Head of Asuna Nung Oku Clan, Etebom Christopher Itiat, Engr. Joseph Akpaette, Barrister George Effang and Mr. Leo Udondem.
