The governor of Akwa Ibom has announced that the Office of the First Lady will soon embark on a sensitisation tour for women across the 31 local government areas (LGAs) in the State.
Pastor Umo Eno made the announcement during the July Edition of Government House Covenant Service, which took place at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, on July 1, 2025.
The governor, who reiterated his commitment to unity and inclusivity, stated that the women’s sensitisation tour was a State programme designed to bring women together, regardless of political affiliations to stay stronger through seminars and cooperatives.
“The Office of the First Lady will soon start sensitisation across the local government areas and will be working with wives of local government chairmen to ensure that we energise and sensitise our women. This is a State programme and is across party lines,” he said.
In affirmation to the declaration the governor made on March 8, 2025 during the International Women’s Day, he also notified that in continuous pursuit of the ARISE Agenda, an official ARISE women uniform will be out in the course of the tour, while 60 Nigeria-for-Women Project co-funded by the State government and World Bank will be commissioned.
