The Board and Management of PJ Chills and The Crew Limited, organizers of the Niger Delta Festival of Arts and Culture (NIDEFEST), have announced the rescheduling of the 2025 edition of the festival to April 20–24, 2026. The event will be held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital.
The decision, according to the organizers, followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders and partners across the Niger Delta. It is aimed at ensuring broader participation, better preparation, and an enhanced cultural showcase befitting the region’s rich heritage.
In a statement signed by the director general of NIDEFEST, Ambassador Peter John Etuk-Akpan, JP, the organisers expressed appreciation to all supporters for their continued encouragement and collaboration toward the realization of the festival’s vision for cultural growth and regional integration.
“We are deeply grateful for the support and goodwill extended to NIDEFEST. The rescheduling will allow us to deliver a more impactful and inclusive celebration of the Niger Delta’s artistic and cultural diversity,” the statement read.
Etuk-Akpan also disclosed that a strategic meeting of the Niger Delta States Commissioners for Culture and Tourism, along with Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Culture, will soon be convened in Uyo.
The meeting, he said, will serve as a platform for deliberations on collaborative strategies for the sustainable development and promotion of culture and tourism across the region.
He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to advancing the cultural excellence of the Niger Delta and assured that NIDEFEST 2026 would offer a richer and more dynamic experience for participants and visitors alike.
NIDEFEST, which brings together artists, cultural troupes, and creative practitioners from across the nine Niger Delta states, has continued to grow as one of the region’s foremost platforms for promoting unity, creativity, and cultural tourism.
