The authorities of NESON Schools, Uyo, has awarded a one-year scholarship to two of its outstanding students.
The two awardees, Master Dianabasi Cyril Isidore, a Primary Four pupil in the school and Miss Favour Friday Inyang, a student in Senior Secondary II, were awarded the scholarship Friday, during the graduation ceremony and prize-giving day organized by the school at its auditorium along Ebong Umoitong Street, Uyo.
Presenting the awards to the two beneficiaries, the administrator of the school, Dr Ekaete Ubong Isong, said the gesture was aimed at encouraging and promoting academic excellence among the students of the school.
Isong, who lauded the beneficiaries for their exceptional brilliance, disclosed that henceforth, NESON Schoolsmanagement will give out similar opportunity every year to two brilliant students of the school.
“What we are doing today will be sustained and every year, two outstanding students will be singled out for similar honours.
“The scholarship will last for an academic session and throughout the session, the benefitting students will not pay any fee. All expenses except books and other learning materials will be taken care of by the school,” Isong stated.
She thanked the teachers and non-teaching staff in the school for their commitment and dedication to assigned duties, assuring that management will do all within its powers to ensure enhanced welfare for its staff.
“To all our esteemed parents, my assurance is that we will continue to mould our students to ensure they are worthy both in character and in learning,” she stated.
Earlier in her opening remark, the principal of the school, Mrs Augusta Etukudoh, congratulated the graduands for putting up a good fight during their stay in the school even as she charged them to ensure they remain good ambassadors of the school in their future endeavour.
“As you continue in your life journey, always rely on God in everything you do and He will continue to direct your path,” she stated.
Etukudoh, who said she was glad to be a part of the NESON Schools family, gave special thanks to the proprietress of the school, Obonganwan Nne Clement Isong, the board of directors and the administrator of the school for their sterling leadership and support, and pledged on behalf of the staff to continue to do their best for the uplift of the school.
High point of the graduation and prize giving ceremony was the presentation of prizes/awards to the best graduating students in science, arts and commercial subjects, while Mrs Ekaette Henshaw and Mr Ezekiel Etim were awarded best teachers in primary and secondary sections respectively.
