NDLEA Seize Illicit Drugs In Eket Market

…Nabs 2 Female Accomplices Of Oron-based Drug-Dealing Pastor

Operatives of the National Drug law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), last week, raided the Marina Market, Eket, where quantities of illicit substances were recovered from fleeing suspects.

This was revealed in a statement released by the anti-narcotics agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday.

Also recovered were along with N1,193.060 cash and N849,000.00 fake currency.

Still according to Babafemi, two women, Hauwawu Bashiruand Basirat Yahaya linked to the attempt to export 90 kilograms of methamphetamine through one Pastor Anietie Effiong of Promise of Zion Church, Oron, also in Akwa Ibom State, were arrested in Lagos and moved to Uyo to face charges along with the clergyman.

Effiong was earlier arrested on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

In Edo State, at least 10 suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure of 4,870.2kgs cannabis in parts of the state.

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022 operatives stormed OhusuForest Boundary, Ovia South-West local government area where they recovered a total of 3,159.7kgs and arrested three suspects, Effiong Udo, Daniel Ebong and Asuquo Effiong.

Two ladies and two men wanted in connection with over 16,000 kilograms of illicit drugs and intercepted in Lagos, Abuja and Netherlands top the list of arrests, in parts of the country in the past week.
