Worried by the seeming negative drift of youths in the society, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that mentorship was a veritable solution to anti-social behaviours. Pastor Umo Eno stated this in his goodwill message at the Team Umo Eno Youth Mentoring Masterclass atthe Signature by Royalty Hotel in Uyo.
The seasoned entrepreneur noted that most behavioural patterns are formed as a result of mentorship and advised young people to choose their mentors wisely because the choice of a mentor determines the momentum or otherwise on the ladder of success.
He commended Team Umo Eno for the initiative, saying it was the right path to take to ignite behavioral change among youths.
The guest speaker, Sir Charles Udoh, who spoke on the topic:“What’s Your Excuse?”, affirmed that it was necessary to make the right choices at all times while noting that excuses are the greatest enemies of man in the journey to greatness.
Using his personal grass to grace story as background, Udoh, the Akwa Ibom commissioner for environment and mineral resources, noted that to be successful, one has to be ready to make adjustments, make sacrifices, be disciplined and seek knowledge.
The guest speaker used the success stories of great world changers and successful business men including Eno; drawing key lessons from their lives to drive home his point about foresight, resilience and commitment.
His most moving example was the story of Nick Vujicic, the Australian American Evangelist who has no hands and legs but has become a monumental success, writing books, swimming, playing football and making millions as motivational speaker.
He urged the participants to dream big and take action, harness their skill sets while encouraging them to take ownership of their own personal and professional development.
The master class which had over 100 youths in attendance, featured some short exercises and sessions and climaxed with a raffle draw.
