The need for Akwa Ibom farmers to exhibit high sense of sincerity in their demands for credit facilities from financial institutions has been stressed.
The managing director, Ibom FADAMA Microfinance Bank Limited, Mrs Imaobong Etuk, gave the advice during an interactive session, in Uyo, with the leadership and membership of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Akwa Ibom Chapter.
Etuk said the advice for sincerity in their demand for credit facilities became imperative to guide bank officials to offer assistance that would ensure easy policy implementation that would not affect farmers and the lending financial institutions.
She noted that for the lending bank to stay afloat in business and farmers to perform creditably well, information on credit facilities must not be hoarded.
The managing director remarked that useful information from farmers interested in obtaining bank loans would enable bank officials to offer assistance that would help them not only to expand their agricultural businesses but also make it possible for them to defray the loans packages with ease.
Ibom FADAMA Microfinance Bank Limited, Etuk said, was established to assist not only farmers to attain greatness in farming for food to be sufficient in the state but to also offer credit facilities to Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs to grow their businesses in the state.
She declared the willingness of her financial institution to cooperate with genuine farmers to succeed in their agricultural production for the purpose of establishing Ibom FADAMA Microfinance Bank Limited.
Etuk appreciated the state chairman of AFAN, Prince Bassey Inwang, for deeming it necessary to organize the interactive session with his members for purposes of enlightenment on the benefits and negative effect of obtaining credit facilities.
Inwang, on his part, explained that the special interactive session with the management of the bank was for them to enlighten his members on what they would stand to gain from obtaining credit facilities to execute their individualagricultural projects in the state.
The AFAN chairman assured that his members, having opened accounts with the bank, would work hard to ensure the successful implementation of the credit facilities for mutual benefits between the bank and his members in agricultural production in the state.
Inwang thanked the Akwa Ibom governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for granting approval for the establishment of Ibom FADAMA Microfinance Bank Limited in the interest of farmers, pledging his members’ collective resolve to cooperate for the success of his administration’s completion agenda and the bank management to operate successfully in the state.
