Information officers have been described as gate keepers in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies ( MDAs) where they serve as Information managers.
The Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State , Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien made the assertion Tuesday, when he received the executive of State Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office
According to Pastor Andrew-Essien, the success or failure of any Organisation is dependent on how ” the gates are manned” commending Information officers for publicising the achievements of the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration.
The Accountant General who spoke glowingly of the Commissioner for Information and Strategy,, Comrade iniobong Emenobong said, the Commissioner is doing well in the area of manpower development.
Hear him” Iniobong has given a new face, transformed the Ministry even beyond physical structure”
He assured workers that the present administration would.keep to her “covenant” of ensuring salaries are paid before the last day of the month and pledged his support to the successful hosting of the chapel’s week slated for October this year.
Earlier, the chairman of the State Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Effiong Edet, praised the State Accountant General for not compromising issues bothering on staff welfare, as well as retooling excises to sharpen the skills of his staff for enhanced productivity and effective service delivery.
Comrade Edet equally lauded Pastor Andrew-Essien for providing a conducive atmosphere, and intergrating his Information officer in the scheme of things.
The chairman said they were on a familiarisation visit to the Accountant General, as well as partner him in the repositioning of the State Information Chapel.
He appealed for the payment of weigh – in allowance to Journalists in Akwa Ibom State Government employ, equally soliciting support for the successful hosting of the chapels week billed
for October 2022
