The Akwa Ibom commissioner for information and strategy has pledged to initiate a technology life improvement programme for staff of the ministry.

Comrade Ini Ememobong said he wanted to leave behind a bond of love and friendship which will make it possible for him to visit the ministry comfortably and interact freely with staff after his tenure of office as commissioner.

The information commissioner, who spoke in the conference room of the ministry, weekend, during the birthday celebration of October born staff, expressed the willingness to initiate programmes in the field of technology that will alleviate the living conditions of staff of the Ministry and assuage the high cost of life challenges facing workers in the ministry as applied to all civil servants in the state.

He said, it will be a disservice to God and humanity for any commissioner or political head of a government Ministry, Department or Agency not to train or add value to civil servants under their watch and allow them to work for 35 years without any improvement of any sort.

“It looks like imprisonment for civil servants to sign in to work for government for 35 years and leave as they came on retirement, without any form of training or value add towards improvement in their standard of living or exposure to current trends in the society,” Ememobong bemoaned.

“I will surely embark on that technology training to teach you how to improve your financial status and alleviate your living standards before I leave office. It will be very unkind for any political head of government ministry not to add value to civil servants and allow them work for 35 years and leave the way they came into service,” he emphasised.

The information commissioner, who was accompanied to the event by the permanent secretary, Akparawa James Edet and directors in the ministry then poured down heavenly blessingson the celebrators and by extension all staff of the ministry for success and long life and congratulated the celebrators for adding another year to their lives.

It would be recalled that Ememobong introduced the monthly birthday celebration for staff of the ministry on assumption of office as part of morale boosting initiatives, geared at motivating and inspiring staff, towards hard work and dedication for enhanced performance and productivity.

Ememobong sang birthday songs for the celebrators, joined them in the cutting of birthday cake and presented them with birthday cards and cash gifts.
