… Set To Commission 60 Nigeria-for-Women Projects, Flag Off More Road Projects
By Bassey Nkponam
UYO
The Akwa Ibom governor has reiterated his commitment to the peace and unity of the State, maintaining that he is governor for all its people, regardless of their political affiliations.
Pastor Umo Eno, who stated this, Tuesday, during the July Edition of Government House Covenant Service, which took place at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, said though elected through the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and currently in the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was elected to serve the entire State, irrespective of political affiliations.
Eno intentionally referred to chairmen of the different political parties in attendance at the service as “Chairman of our party,” saying he is a governor serving the general interest of the State, and appreciated everyone for their support, especially during the activities marking the progressive movement.
“Let me take this opportunity to thank the people of Akwa Ibom State for the support given to us so far, especially during our recent movement to the APC, without record of any sad occurrence. We are very grateful to God and to you.
“We have moved from politics, and we are now back to governance. Work has started again. Please, let us get back to work.
“Tomorrow, we are flagging off road constructions, and within the month, we will be commissioning many others,” Eno stated.
The governor made known that the Office of the First Lady will soon commence the sensitisation of women across the 31 local government areas of the State, in collaboration with wives of chairmen of local government areas to sensitise women across party lines by bringing them together through cooperatives and seminars.
“We will be using the period also to commission the Nigerian-for-Women projects, about 60 of them which are spread across the 31 local government areas of the State. The projects were co-funded by the State and the World Bank,” he said.
The governor appreciated political parties in the State for working together to support the State government for the benefit of the people.
He expressed delight that he is a governor for all parties, assuring them of his administration’s support and partnership for the greater progress and growth of the State.
Ministering on the theme, “And the shout of the king is among them,” with text taken from Numbers 23:21, Bishop Josephine Eggah of the New Birth Bible Church, Uyo, noted that a king does not just shout but shouts to establish his influence and power as well as to deliver good things to his people.
Eggah admonished Christians and people of the State to stand still for the shout and voice of the Lord reigns mightily in the land of Akwa Ibom for the good of the people.
Chairman of the State Christian Leadership Advisory Council, and Archbishop of Calabar Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Joseph Ekuwem, enjoined everyone to keep on supporting the administration of Governor Umo Eno for the overall betterment of the State.
