IKOT EKPENE
The ARISE Women group in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area was, Friday, inaugurated with a charge on the coordinator to liaise with major female stakeholders in the area for the success of the body’s objectives.
Speaking at the inauguration which was conducted at Ikot Ekpene Town Hall, the commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Mrs Inibehe Etukudo, expressed appreciation to Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his unwavering support to Akwa Ibom women and his belief in women’s capacity to contribute positively to governance.
Etukudo, who also commended the coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom, Lady Helen Obareki, for her consistency in advocating for the well-being of women and vulnerable persons across the state, pointed out that the Umo Eno-led administration in Akwa Ibom had given a fair share of participation to women in governance.
Her words: “It is on record that under His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno’s leadership, women’s participation in governance in Akwa Ibom State has risen to over 40 per cent, and this is a clear demonstration of inclusive governance, and he deserves our loyalty, commitment and support,” she affirmed.
The women affairs boss urged the women to reciprocate the gesture with total commitment, unity of purpose and overwhelming support for the governor at the polls in 2027.
While congratulating the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Chapter coordinator of ARISE Women, Mrs Affiong Nkom, on her appointment, Etukudo urged her to liaise with major female stakeholders in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area to ensure effective mobilisation of women toward the success of Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda in the area, as well as “the ultimate success in 2027.”
She particularly thanked the chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Mr Aniefiok Nkom, for creating the enabling environment for women to contribute their quota toward the development of the area, stressing, “It is an established fact that women remain the backbone of every successful political movement, and the ARISE Women structure, therefore, is a strategic platform to organize and mobilise the women to speak with one voice in support of continuity, progress and the re-election of all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), starting from President Bola Tinubu; Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Governor Umo Eno and the rest of the candidates of the APC in 2027.
Etukudo thanked the women for their massive support for Governor Eno’s administration, urging them to sustain the tempo.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Mr Aniefiok Nkom, thanked Governor Eno for supporting Akwa Ibom women in all spheres of engagements.
While assuring the women of his administration’s continued support toward their programmes in the area, the council boss thanked the commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Mrs Inibehe Etukudo, for her commitment in ensuring effective mobilisation of women across the state.
In her remarks, the newly inaugurated coordinator of ARISE Women, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Chapter, Mrs Affiong Nkom, thanked the women affairs boss for the confidence reposed in her, pledging effective mobilisation of women in the 12 wards of the local government area for maximum results.
In their separate goodwill messages, the former chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Mrs Gloria Useh; wife of the commissioner for environment and mineral resources, Deaconess Helen Ekong and Mrs Nse Inyang, pledged total support toward the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Pastor Umo Eno as President, Senate President and governor, respectively, in 2027.
In a related development, the Ukanafun and Oruk Anam chapters of the ARISE Women were recently inaugurated for grassroots mobilisation of women in those areas.
Performing the inauguration at the Patience Umo Eno Women Development Centre, Ukanafun Local Government secretariat, the commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Mrs Inibehe Etukudo, urged the newly appointed coordinator and wife of the council chairman, Mrs Mokut Ukpanah, to ensure effective mobilisation of women across the area, with a view to lending massive support toward the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Gov Umo Eno during 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, the chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Council, Mr Uyo Ukpanah, commended the women affairs boss for her resolve in spearheading the establishment of the ARISE Women group in all the local government areas of the state, and pledged his council’s continued support for the group.
In her response, the newly appointed coordinator of the ARISE Women in Ukanafun, Mrs Mokut Ukpanah, pledged Ukanafun women’s commitment to the core objectives of the body, particularly in ensuring the return of President Bola Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno to their respective offices during the general elections in 2027.
The event which featured the presentation of goodwill messages from major female stakeholders in the area, was attended by top female stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of the state.
At Oruk Anam, wife of the chairman of the Council, Mrs Juliana Akpan, was appointed as the coordinator of the group in the local government area by the commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Mrs Inibehe Etukudo, who urged her to mobilise the women in Oruk Anam for the success of all APC candidates during the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Council, Elder Sunday Akpan, re-affirmed the commitment of the people of Oruk Anam to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Pastor Umo Eno to their current offices in 2027.
While expressing appreciation to Governor Eno for supporting the inauguration of the ARISE Women structures at the grassroots, the Ukanafun coordinator, Mrs Juliana Akpan, pledged full mobilisation of Ukanafun women toward the success of the ARISE Women in the area.
The event, which was attended by personalities across the State, featured presentation of goodwill messages by major female stakeholders in the area.
