Stakeholders in the Ika Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, PhD, Mr. Clement Jimbo, and Sir Boniface Ebewo as their consensus candidates for second-term re-election bids ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The enlarged endorsement meeting, held on Friday, May 8, 2026, was organized by the Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Mr. Utibe Nwoko, a lawyer. The event attracted party faithful, ward leaders, councillors, supervisors, political appointees, women and youth groups, and other critical stakeholders from across the local government area.
During the meeting, stakeholders formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, attesting that his commitment to national development and ongoing economic reforms is commendable.
Also endorsed was the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, in recognition of his sterling leadership in the National Assembly and his continued support for development and numerous projects in Ika and Akwa Ibom State at large.
The stakeholders equally endorsed the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for a second term, commending his administration’s developmental strides and inclusive style of governance across the state.Similarly, Mr. Clement Inemesit Jimbo was endorsed for a second term as the member representing the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, while Sir Boniface Ebewo received the stakeholders’ endorsement for the Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency seat in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
In his remarks, Chairman Nwoko described the endorsements as a demonstration of unity, loyalty, and confidence in the leadership and capacity of the endorsed candidates. He urged party members to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals and vision of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The council chairman also inaugurated the APC Primary Election Steering Committee for Ika Local Government Area, with himself serving as chairman. The committee is expected to coordinate activities and ensure a smooth and successful primary election process within the local government.In a related development, the incumbent member for the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Mr. Clement Jimbo, was screened and cleared for the upcoming APC House of Representatives primary election, slated for Friday, May 13, 2026, at ward collation centers across the Abak, Ika, and Etim Ekpo local government areas.
The screening, which took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Treasure Suites & Conferences in Abuja, provided the party the opportunity to screen all aspirants vying for House of Representatives seats.At the time of this report, all Akwa Ibom State consensus candidates have been screened and cleared to participate in the upcoming party primaries.
