The member for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency has flagged off the construction of Amiamia-owo/Akpan AssiekMarket Road in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
Performing the flag-off, Mr Unyime Idem said it was part of his plans to ensure connection of rural communities in the federal constituency to a good road network to boost rural economy and assist farmers evacuate their farm produce to city centres. He also noted that the construction of the road would assist traders convey their goods to and from the market.
Idem thanked the beneficiary communities for their cooperation and urged them to remain peaceful and united.
He admonished them to continue cooperating with the contractors for the timely and successful completion of the project.
The Ukanafun-born lawmaker promised to attract more development projects to the federal constituency.
The initiator of skills empowerment for 5000 youths listed other roads to be constructed soon to include: Police Station/Ikot UdoObobo/Idung Eka Uyo/Ikot Akpa Nkuk Road and Motor Park Road.
Others are: NIFOR Sub-station Road and Ikot UkpongerenBridge in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
The project manager, on behalf of the construction company, Rolinks Technologies Limited, thanked the people for the warm reception and cooperation accorded his team. He assured that the project would be completed in three months.
Recall that in May this year, the performing lawmaker flagged off the construction of Ikot Akpa Nkuk/Nyak Iba/Usung Atiat/IkotAkpa Idem/Ikot Udombang Road which has been completed and is awaiting inauguration.
