Access to quality education is key to nurturing future leaders, yet many school children face challenges due to inadequate learning materials and classroom facilities. In Ndauku, Ikot Abasi, pupils of Government Primary School have been affected by shortages of desks, chairs, books, and other essential educational tools.
In response, Ibom Developers FZE and Sterling Petrochemicals and Fertilizers Ltd. (SPFL) provided the school with desks, chairs, school bags, sandals with socks, exercise books, rulers, erasers, pens, pencils, water bottles, and other essential learning materials. This intervention, which is part of the companies’ ongoing Community Development Programme, addresses long-standing infrastructural gaps and ensures that pupils now have a more conducive environment for learning.
Speaking on behalf of the pupils, Miss Patience Udo Essien thanked Ibom Developers FZE and SPFL for supplying the school materials they needed. “This will make us want to learn more and do well when we grow up,” she said.
The Head Teacher, Mrs. Eno Udoekpo, commended the company for demonstrating genuine concern for the children’s future, noting that the intervention had restored dignity to learning at the school.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ndauku Village Council, Chief Okon Udo Joshua, described the donation as a blessing to the community. “We have been hearing about similar programmes by Ibom Developers FZE and SPFL in other places, and today we are happy it has reached our own community,” he said.
Representing the Industrial Relations Committee in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Mr. Nsikan Udoete applauded the initiative and encouraged the community to maintain peace and support the company’s operations. He noted that such gestures add significant value to children’s education, helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, develop essential skills, and grow into a responsible and contributing member of the society.
The Community Development Programme Coordinator of Ibom Developers and SPFL, Ms. Grace Inyang, explained that the team was inspired to act after observing the school’s conditions firsthand. “We saw pupils learning on the floor, and we knew immediate support was necessary. Our goal is to ensure that every child learns in a conducive environment,” she stated.
The event drew community stakeholders, school authorities, PTA members, and residents, all of whom praised Ibom Developers FZE and SPFL for investing in the education and future of the children. The intervention reflects the company’s continued support across multiple areas, transforming lives and contributing to sustainable development goals that impact education, growth, and empowerment.
