Ibiono Ibom TC Celebrates Pastor Eno At 60 With School Children

School children and teachers from 64 public primary schools in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area gathered at the Council Hall, Okoita in celebration of Governor Umo Eno who clocks 60 years of age.
The celebration put together by the Local Government Transition Committee of the area offered the council the opportunity to present gifts as well as breakfast with the school children and their teachers to mark the celebration of the Akwa Ibom State governors birthday.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Nsikanabasi Ukobot reiterated his administrations commitment to work for better welfare for teachers especially, ensuring that, every committed teacher is rewarded whilst in service as against what he described as a derogatory slogan that teachers rewards are in heaven.
Hon. Ukobot described life as that period from the time one lives and when he or she will die, noting that, what one lives behind as impact, relationship with people defines who someone was, while alive.
The chairman said by his feelings, the celebration was not only for the political class but for those who he said have contributed immensely to the development of the land, the reason he directed the extension of the invitation to the children and their teachers across schools in the area to share in joy and celebration of the governor who turns 60 years of age.
While acknowledging the styling presentation of an impromptu birthday message for the state governor from a primary six pupil, Miss Veraqueen Imo Peter schooling at St. Peters School, Southern Ibiono Ibom 1 in Ibiono Local Government Area, he said.
When I see people who withdraw their children from public primary schools to enrol them in private schools, I always get to laughter because, by mere observation, many successful people in the society are products of public schools, Ukobot observed.
According to him, Of a truth, almost all the quiz competitions that are held within and beyond this state are always won by children schooling in public schools in the state and I am always very proud of this because I am a product of the public school.
He charged the school children and the teachers to be serious and focus on teaching and learning as a way of reciprocating the resources invested by the State Governor in the education sector and approval and release of funds for payment of gratuity for retired teachers.
Setting the tone for the celebration, the Supervisor for Education in the Council, Mr Ubong Akpan Tom-Mendie informed the school children and the teachers of the prominent hold about them hence, the Councils invite to them to be part of the celebration of the state governors 60th birthday anniversary.
Mr Tom-Mendie appreciated the turn-up by the pupils and the teachers while describing education as the bedrock of development in every society.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Chairman of, the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Ibiono Ibom Chapter, Comrade Edet Akpan, chapter Chairman, Association of Primary Schools Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Comrade Jossie Ime Edet had wished the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno a happy birthday, praying for long life and capacity to pilot the state with all-round superior performances.
Also speaking, a school pupil who spoke on behalf of all pupils from the 64 primary schools that attended the birthday event thanked Pastor Umo Eno for giving them free and compulsory education in the state and other programmes and policies that would better their future.
