UYO

Gov Udom Emmanuel has been lauded for his giant strides and unwavering commitment towards changing the development narrative in Uyo Capital City.

The chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Otuekong Enobong Uwah, made the commendation in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of Akwa Ibom.

Uwah expressed satisfaction on how Governor Emmanuel has demonstrated his famous trait of excellence and visionary leadership, adding that this is delivering on His Excellency’s Completion Agenda for the state.

Describing the governor as a goal oriented leader, Uwah noted that Governor Emmanuel’s achievements and selfless disposition towards the development of the state with massive projects dotting the capital city, have already brought great dividends to the state.

The Capital City helmsman, while appreciating Governor Emmanuel for his reappointment as the chairman of UCCDA, further noted that he was appointed to reform and reposition the Authority, being a critical Agency to deliver on the governor’s blueprint for the capital city.

He reassured that the Agency, under his watch, has remained uncompromising in achieving its core mandate and objectives of physical planning and development control for a beautiful and functional model city, as well as safeguarding the Uyo Master Plan from distortion.

To affirm Uwah’s position in the area of delivering better and improved services to the public, is the rebranded Authority that eliminates bureaucratic bottlenecks from the processes of obtaining building plan approvals. The introduction of the Front Desk Office aids to fast track approvals within 14 days, thereby gaining the public confidence in its operations.

Uwah, in his statement, also disclosed that plans are underway to regularise street names and house numbering within Uyo Capital City for easy identification of locations, assuring that the exercise will help in tackling the challenges of urban planning and development for a model city.

Listing the tremendous achievements of Emmanuel-led administration for UCCDA, Uwah extolled the governor for delivering the massive UCCDA Permanent Secretariat for use after decades of its creation since 1988, to address the office accommodation needs. The feat, he said, accounts for staff productivity and optimum service delivery.

Development had since commenced in Martha Vineyard, a low density modern estate located at Ediene Ikot Obio Imo in Uyo, named after Akwa Ibom first lady, Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel. The development of the Estate, according to Uwah, is part of the governor’s vision to meet the housing needs of the State.

Part of Governor Emmanuel’s imprints is evident in the state-of-the-art Chambers for Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, another landmark project, supervised by the UCCDA, which remains the pride and symbol of the Traditional Institution of the State.

Uwah felicitated Governor Emmanuel and the entire people of Akwa Ibom on the occasion of the 35th anniversary celebration of the state’s creation.
