House Committee Lauds Uyo, Nsit Ubium Transition Chairmen

The House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has scored the transition committee chairmen for Uyo, Dr. Uwemedimo Udoh and Mr Iniobong Orok for performing well in their five months in office.
The chairma of House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Elder Mfon Idung, gave the scorecard during the ongoing tour by the committee in Uyo and Nsit  Ubium local government areas.
Idung explained that the visit was to assess what the transition committee chairmen in the 31 local government areas in the state have done, considering the fund released to them within the period under review.
He explained that transition committee chairmen as the third tier of government should duplicate what the governor was doing in the state in providing life-touching projects to Akwa Ibom people.
Idung disclosed that funds released to the chairmen were not meant for their personal use but from the betterment of the people at the grassroots hence should be judiciously used for the purpose they were meant for.
The committee through its chairman appreciated the chairmen of Uyo and Nsit Ubium for judiciously managing the funds to provide life-touching projects to their people.
He encouraged them to continue to do more for the people as their performance would serve as a yardstick for their tenure extension.
In Uyo Local Government which was the first port of call, the transition committee chairman, Udoh and his team who were on ground to receive the lawmakers said they delighted and privileged to host members of the 8th Assembly.
Udoh explained that in his five months plus in office as transition committee chairman, he has impacted positively on the people in line with Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda.
The  local government boss listed his  achievements to include grading of  33.6 kilometres of rural roads, purchasing of JAMB forms to 100 indigent students, payment of bursary to students in the area across 13 tertiary institutions, maintenance of   Uyo Traditional Rulers Council Office, provision of furniture in all the offices, restoration of electricity and water, empowerment of 55 women with N100 ,000 each,  fixing of two primary health care centres, donation of generating set to a health centre at Ikot Ebido, cultivation of three  hectares of cassava farm in  Ikono, Uyo , construction of ultra modern hall, fixing of motor parks in partnership with Hensek Integrated Services, investment in grassroots sports, among others.
The chairman, who appreciated Governor Eno for the opportunity to serve his people, pledged that he would continue to do more even as the people would continue to support the governor to succeed.
   Similarly, the transition committee chairman for Nsit Ubium, Orok, and his team thanked the legislator for the visit and Governor Eno for the opportunity to serve the people.
Orok said he embarked on various projects to better the lives of Nsit Ubium to duplicate what the governor was doing in the state.
The Nsit Ubium chairman listed his achievements to include construction of an ICT centre, grading of roads, cultivation of demonstration farm, payment of bursary to students, maintenance of the council environment, youths and women empowerment, purchase of JAMB forms for students, among others.
Lawmakers on the visit were: Ibiono Ibom, Oron/Udung Uko, Ikot Abasi/ Eastern, Mbo, Eket, Esit Eket/ Ibono, Etinan, Ukanafun, Uruan, Urue Offong/Oruko, Nsit Atai, Nsit Ibom, Uyo, Ibesikpo Asutan, Mkpat Enin,  Ikono and Ini.
