UYO
The Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has condoled with his delivery advisor on Tourism and managing director of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Sir Charles Udoh, over the passing of his immediate elder brother, Sir Emmanuel Sebastian Udoh, popularly known as “Bullet”, whose remains were interred at the family compound in Obio Offot.
Speaking at the funeral conducted on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Obio Offot, Governor Eno said the death of a dear one, especially at such a relatively young age of 68, evokes deep feelings of pains and emotions.
Represented by the secretary to the State government, Prince Enobong Uwah, at the funeral, Governor Eno urged the bereaved family to take consolation in the fact that his late elder brother, while alive, had achieved a lot in the area of his passion and interest, which was in football.
The governor also encouraged the family to continue to project those ideals of faith, service and community service which were the defining elements of Sir Emmanuel Udoh during his sojourn on earth.
“We are in our thoughts and prayers that the great comforter, the Holy Spirit, will further console, strengthen and abide with you at this time of your bereavement”, Governor Eno said.
In his homily, Reverend Father John Nkereuwem, said the world is not a permanent place for mankind, therefore, Christians should at all times be ready for the home call and reminded all Christians that, our permanent place is with God in paradise.
While praying for mercy for the soul of late Sir Emmanuel Udoh, the bereaved family and others who mourn his departure, Revered Father Nkereuwem charged them to understand that one day they will surely leave this earth to join with Sir Emmanuel Udoh.
In a vote of thanks, the immediate junior brother to the deceased and managing director of Ibom Hotels, Sir Charles Udoh, who spoke on behalf of the bereaved family, appreciated Governor Eno, government dignitaries, colleagues, associates and friends for attending the funeral mass and also for their support through visits, calls and messages, noting that their kind words have helped ease the weights of their pains.
Udoh particularly appreciated the spiritual guidance of the Catholic Church and the love exhibited by the Knights and other Church fellowships with the great honour bestowed on their elder brother, husband, father and grandfather, Sir Emmanuel Udoh, popularly known as “Bullet”.
Not leaving out the football community, especially the Akwa United Football Club and the Calabar Rovers, he said their tributes and solidarity have reminded the family of how deeply “Bullet” touched their lives in and off the pitch.
A Vigil mass was earlier held in honour of the deceased knight at St.Mary’s Catholic Church, Obio Offot, Uyo on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Bullet, was until his death, a team manager of Akwa United Football Club, Uyo, where he played a key role in the Club’s historic 2021 NPFL title win and their two FA Cup triumphs.
He was also a former secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association.
Late Sir Emmanuel Sebastian Udoh is survived by his wife, two children, grandchildren, two brothers, in-laws and a host of others, including his elder brother, Commander Noel Sebastian Udoh, Rtd.
Present at the occasion were: the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, the representative of the Deputy Governor and Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Joseph Esidem, the Chief Whip of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. (Chief) Effiong Johnson, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, Chairman, Uyo LGA and ALGON Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo and the Paramount Ruler of Uyo LGA, HRM Edidem Sylvanus Okon,  JP, among others.
