The Akwa Ibom governor has urged the people of the State to identify with the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the broom, which is the true symbol of the party, signifies the sweeping away of disunity, bad luck, poverty and division, while ushering in more development and peace for the nation.
Pastor Umo Eno, who made the call, recently, at the Victor Attah International Airport, VAIA, while addressing a mammoth crowd that welcomed him back to the state after a week-long trip, declared Akwa Ibom as an APC State and urged the people to update their membership with the party, emphasising the enormous benefits that lie ahead.
Eno urged the people to return to their units, wards, and villages to complete their APC membership registration and also reminded them to take the ongoing INEC voter registration exercise seriously by mobilising and registering, to enable them vote for more progress and development.
He reafirmed his commitment to promoting unity, peace and progress in Akwa Ibom, stressing that divisive tendencies and treachery have no place in the state’s development agenda.
“We are Akwa Ibom united – united for progress and development. And, the symbolic broom of the party is going to sweep away disunity, poverty, division and treachery.
“You must be proud to be connected to the centre in order to continue to receive the support of the centre for the overall benefit of our people and our state,” he stated.
Eno also reaffirmed his support and that of the state for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio in their respective offices come 2027.
He assured that his administration would continue to pursue the vision of a united Akwa Ibom, bringing progress and development to all, and announced plans to expand the state’s road network from its current 772 kilometres to 1,000 kilometres.
While commenting on other projects across the state, the governor lauded the House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the supplementary budget, announcing that contractors would be mobilised back to project sites during the dry season to achieve the target of 1000 kilometres of road network as approved.
Eno expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him by the people, saying “your massive turnout at this reception this evening, though a surprise to me, is like putting fuel in a car. And, it will certainly go far in its journey. I, therefore, promise you, we will continue to work for Akwa Ibom and deliver on the dividends of democracy.
He appreciated the management and staff of Ibom Air for meeting the deadline on resumption of night flights, adding that Ibom Air has fully returned to operation.
“Our airport is back. So, any flight can land here in the night. Ibom Air can now bring in people, and can night-stop in Uyo for their first flight in the morning to Lagos and Abuja because this is the home of Ibom Air,” he said.
The governor said that he decided to embark on the night flight to the state’s airport to inspect and be sure of the functionality of the recently restored runway lightings at the airport, saying he was satisfied with the lighting work so far done.
