The Akwa Ibom governor has commended the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim for her dedication towards improving the welfare of women and children across the country.
Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, who made the commendation, recently, in a message sent to the 25th National Council on Women Affairs and Child Development (NCWACD), held at Benin, Edo State, noted with satisfaction the minister’s untiring efforts in carrying the women along in the various projects and programmes executed by her office, expressing optimism that the efforts would be sustained.
Eno, whose message was delivered by the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Inibehe Etukudo, pointed out that the state was aggressively executing life-transforming projects and programmes that had changed the circumstances of the Akwa Ibom people, particularly women and children, in line with the philosophy of the ARISE Agenda of his administration.
While congratulating the women on the successful hosting of this year’s NCWACD, the governor restated his administration’s support to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative which, he noted, was fashioned out for the socio-economic well-being of Nigerians.
The Council Meeting, which had as its theme, “Strengthening Systems and Deepening Social Impact: Advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda for Women, Children, Families and Other Vulnerable Groups,” served as Nigeria’s leading policy platform for discussions on gender equality, child welfare, and social inclusion.
The annual converge which was attended by commissioners of women affairs from the 36 states of the federation, permanent secretaries, directors, development partners and other key stakeholders, featured technical sessions, policy reviews, exhibitions and interactive engagements aimed at fostering stronger collaboration among government agencies and partners, with a view to advancing the welfare of women, children and vulnerable groups across the country.
