The Akwa Ibom governor has restated his administration’s resolve to continuously motivate and support citizens with creative talents to grow.
Pastor Umo Eno who stated this, Thursday, during an event at his country home, Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, to celebrate Christmas with the people of the area, said his administration will continue to motivate, support and promote any Akwa Ibom citizen endowed with any creative talent to excel.
Eno acknowledged the gradual process involved in attaining stardom which, he noted, requires encouragement, support, motivation, and assured of continued provision of platforms for such citizens to excel in their fields of specialisation.
He openly endorsed and supported one of the prominent indigenous artists, Ikpa Udo, at the event, positing that while celebrating and supporting foreign artists, indigenous ones must be given their rightful place, as the State is prepared to encourage and support the youths, hence the creation of a separate Ministry for Youth Development.
The State governor lauded his predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for his encouragement and support for indigenous artists through the “Onna Day”, celebrated on December 25, every year, at QIC Primary School, Awa-Iman.
Eno appreciated all for joining him in the celebration of Christmas in his hometown and assured of continued collaboration with stakeholders to deliver on the “Project Akwa Ibom”.
He announced that the New Year service for 2025 will take place on January 2, at the International Christian Worship Center, Uyo, urging AkwaIbomitesto be part of the service.
The immediate past governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, accompanied by his wife, Martha, appreciated Eno for keeping to his promise and furthering the development of the State.
Speaking separately, the deputy governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Oku Ibom Ibibio and paramount ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk; Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong; political leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob;State chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Aniekan Akpan; chairman, State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, and chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Mr. Alfred Charles, appreciated the governor for his leadership disposition, especially for his inclusiveness, and his all-round support for youths, elders, women.
They assured him of their continued support to enable him deliver on the economic development blueprint -the ARISE Agenda, of the state.
The event had different indigenous artists including Libra, David Cruz aka Disasta, Ikpa Udo and other budding artists, performing, alongside comedy presentation and cultural displays.
