UYO
The Akwa Ibom governor  has assured that he would remain focused on his mission to move the state forward.
Reacting to a trending video making the rounds on the social media, Gov Umo Eno expressed dismay that people could resurrect the video of an incident that occurred last year immediately after his wife’s demise to score political gains.
The governor, who spoke on the flanks of the birthday celebration of a former deputy governor of the State, Obong Nsima Ekere, in Uyo, said we are in political times and so you can expect more of that.
“My family is intact and you can see all of them. The event you are talking about took place immediately my wife died last year, so why is it surfacing now on the eve of our second anniversary when we are celebrating the milestone we have achieved?
“That teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact, that’s Jane herself there. We are a good family.
“The pressure on the kids when they lose a loved one, could be traumatic and we must know that.
“What I can only appeal to everyone is that they should not bring back the sad memory.
“Allow my wife’s peaceful soul to rest in peace. I can’t be distracted, I remain focused.
“I will continue to serve Akwa Ibom people. I don’t wish what happened to me to happen to anyone else.
“People throwing this thing around, if that is what they wish for themselves, I wish them good luck. My family is intact. Even in politics the family should be off limit,” the governor added.
He congratulated Ekere on his 60th birthday and commended him for his meritorious contributions to the State and the country.

Rep Idem Facilitates Employment Of A’Ibom Son Into NUPRC
ABUJA
The Member for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, Public Procurement Committee, has facilitated the employment of an Akwa Ibomite into the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The beneficiary is: Innocent Monday Effiong.
Addressing the beneficiary in his office at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, Rep. Unyime Idem handed him the letter of employment, congratulated him and charged him to be a good ambassador of Akwa Ibom in his new workplace and exhibit passion, commitment sincerity, and other virtues as may be expected of him.
“The gesture is part of fulfilment of my promise to facilitate 1000 jobs for Akwa Ibomites into strategic Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, in 2025. I will implement this alongside my sponsorship of overseas training for 100 Akwa Ibom people, which I instituted in 2024.
“Be passionate about your job. You can’t succeed without passion. Be committed. Be sincere. Sincere people make impact, not only in the world of work, but wherever they find themselves. Sincerity brings promotion and elevation. Above all, put God first in all you do. I am a product of God’s grace. You can be that too, in your place of work.
“Be available. Be a good ambassador of Akwa Ibom State. Be our ears there. Give us information that will help us harness more opportunities for our people. It is my firm belief that in the next 10 to 15 years, we will have Akwa Ibomites as directors, Permanent Secretaries, and others in top management positions in the federal government. This way, we’ll be able to attract federal presence such as projects and programmes to Akwa Ibom State and lessen the burden on the State government.
“We will also be able to close the quota gap where only a few Akwa Ibomites are in managerial positions in federal MDAs,” Idem said.
The beneficiary, Effiong, thanked the lawmaker for facilitating his employment and vowed to make him and the State proud by his lifestyle and performance in new place of work.
