The Akwa Ibom governor has sought the assistance of the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, in facilitating the development of the Ibom Deep Seaport and the Oil Palm Refinery in the State, by the federal government.
Pastor Umo Enomade the request, Friday, at a State Banquet organised in honour of the Senate President at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, and urged him to help facilitate the two projects for the benefit of the State and Nigeria, in general.
Eno said he desires to partner the federal government to develop its oil palm plantation and have an industrial oil mill in the state to create employment opportunities for the citizenry.
He described it as a privilege and a blessing for the State to have one of their own as Senate President under his leadership as governor, urging him to bring the dividends of democracy back home, while assuring Akpabio of his continued collaboration to bring development to the state and country at large.
“Your Excellency, I had some requests while we were in my office, and I want to please make it public, they’re just three. The first thing I want to request is that you help facilitate a partnership with the federal government on the Ibom Deep Seaport.
The second request is that we want to partner the federal government to develop our oil palm plantation and to have an industrial oil mill in this state. This is the kind of thing that will bring employment and will benefit our people. Finally, Your Excellency, we would like to pay a “Thank You Visit” to Mr President across party lines. We would like to go thank him for standing by you and supporting you.
“Your Excellency, we thank you and we want to assure you that we will continue to collaborate with you to bring development to our state and our country at large”.
The governor appreciated President Bola Tinubu for standing by Akpabio, and supporting the vision of other Senators to produce an Akwa Ibom son as Senate President, thereby giving the State the opportunity to have the number three citizen of the country, assuring Tinubu of his continued support to enable him succeed.
“That’s the joy we have and that is the pride we carry, and we will continue to assure you that we will partner with you, and partner with the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.
Prior to the gala, Eno hadreceived the Senate President and his entourage in his office on a courtesy visit, during which he appreciated him for his visionary leadership in the State during his tenure as governor, while urging him to do more as the number three citizen of the country.
Eno, who was elated by the visit of the Senate President, expressed belief that God brought him (Eno) by grace to bring about reconciliation, saying, he does not take the visit for granted.
He appreciated other senators for the support shown their president and especially for accompanying him on the courtesy visit and the gala night, urging them to keep up the team spirit.
The Senate President, Akpabio, described Eno as an apostle and disciple of peace in the State and country, assuring that he will do all he can to support Eno.
He thanked Eno for the honour done him, the warm reception accorded him, and for always identifying with him and others irrespective of political party affiliation.
Akpabio lauded the state governor on his achievements so far, while urging him to keep on doing the good works and strive to do more.
