ORUK ANAM
The Akwa Ibom governor has inaugurated the 23. 25km Ikot Ekaide-Ikot Ibritam Road with two bridges of 20m and 80m span in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
Pastor Umo Eno, who performed the inauguration, Saturday, noted that the road which connects the State to other major economic hubs in the Niger Delta will improve the living standards of the people, thereby boosting the economy of the State.
Eno said with the huge economic benefits of the road to the State and its people, there was no way it could be left uncompleted.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistency in the release of fund which has aided execution of projects in the State, and for releasing same to State governments across the nation for execution of life-touching projects for their people.
Eno recalled that since assumption of office, his administration has not borrowed or depended on any bank for the funding of projects in spite of the numerous projects it has executed, acknowledging God for the grace and wisdom to manage the State’s resources judiciously.
He lauded the people of Oruk Anam for their support, especially the immediate past first lady and daughter of the area, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel, whom he referred to as his Campaigner-in-Chief, assuring Oruk Anam and the State, in general, of more benefits from more impactful projects.
“The truth is, these are economically-viable roads, and like they have told us, this road connects to other States in the Niger Delta. So there is no way we can leave this road uncompleted.
“So I thank the Federal Government for making funds available to States for execution of projects. We also want to thank God for the grace that he has given us to manage the funds that are available to us, because it is one thing to have funds, but another thing to manage the funds well.
He explained that his administration inherited the road at 50 per cent and then provided the necessary funding to complete it and governor directed the Ministry of Works and Fire Service to install streetlights along the newly inaugurated road, while urging local government chairmen to safeguard government projects within their domain.
The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal  Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Unyime Idem, appreciated the governor for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Oruk Anam, describing his superlative performance and leadership style as excellent and worthy of emulation, while pledging the people’s continued support for the governor.
In their separate remarks at the event, other stakeholders including the chairman of Oruk Anam, Mr Sunday Festus, commissioner for health, Dr. Emmanuel John, member representing Oruk Anam State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr Sampson Idiong, political leader of the area, Sir Udo Kierian Akpan, delivery advisor for education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, and the paramount ruler of the area, HRM Edidem Johnson Obosi, all described the governor as a man of his word, who has delivered on his promises to the people, appreciating Eno for completing the project, and for other ongoing projects in the area.
